Lina Eve : Tributes Page

These tribute paintings show the influences of my favorite artists, both past and present: Vincent van Gogh, Paul Gauguin, Andreas Bottecelli, Amedeo Modigliani, Henri Matisse, Gustav Klimt, Frida Kahlo, Brett Whiteley, Georgia O'Keeffe, Margaret Olley, Geoff Holt and Vali Myers, to name just a few!

"Vincent & Theo" Lina Eve 1994. Vincent was my first inspiration but he never painted Theo, his brother, who supported him all his life. I used Vincent's style to bring the brothers together surrounded by Vincents favorite flowers, and the yellow chair he painted for Gauguin.

"Georgia O'Keeffe" Lina Eve 1994. O'Keeffe's work was sometimes labelled overly erotic because her larger than life flowers oozed sensuality! After all, flowers are the sex organs of plants! I found her work really beautiful. Hibiscus from our garden.

"Friends" Lina Eve 1995. Klimt's beautiful patterns and swirling forms stunningly enhance his paintings of women. I've used his decorative style on this work, after one of his originals.
